The two largest satellite services have different parental controls that you can use.

DirecTV:

DirecTVs Locks and Limits feature allows you to block by MPAA ratings, specific movies, and entire channels, as well as to set limited viewing times and establish spending limits on Pay-Per-View.

  • Press the menu button on your remote, select Profiles, and look for the selections which indicate Rating Limit, Lock User, Viewing Hours or Spending Limit.
  • Follow the easy-to-understand on-screen directions, which vary by receiver.
  • After setting up, you can easily access the programming you like by entering your PIN.

DISH Network:

DISH Network subscribers must use the v-chip to block television programs according to their rating. Additionally, you can block adult channels using their Adult Guard feature, found in the Locks menu.
